FAIR TRADE FOR A REASON

Farmed shrimp is a global commodity: Pricing is driven by demand in key consumer markets. In Asia, the majority of shrimp is farmed by smallholder producers. They often lack the means to achieve certification for accessing higher quality, responsible markets.

COMMUNITY INCLUSIVE SHRIMP

Blueyou’s Fair Trade project in Lampung is worldwide the first program which succeeded in achieving both ASC and Fair Trade certification for a larger group of smallholder farmers. The aim is to strengthen the farmers’ community and create an identity for their high-quality shrimp on the global market.
